Curragh Athletic 2 v 2 Drumkeen United
This game brought together 2nd against 3rd in the table. It promised to be an exciting game and indeed that's how it turned out.
The game started brightly with both teams having attempts at goal. Drumkeen went close on 5 minutes when great work from Aidan Martin in midfield who then put Jason McDaid through who shot wide. McDaid didn't have to wait to long before he got the goal he deserved, Sean Doherty broke down a Curragh attack and put Jason Mcdaid through who made no mistake to put Drumkeen 1-0 up.
Drumkeen were well on top after this but Curragh then equalized against the run of play through Adam Sweeney who made no mistake from a great move.Drumkeen then took control again after this and Jason McDaid scored from 25 yards into the top corner for his 23rd goal of the season before half time.
The 2nd half started with Curragh dominating and they got their deserved equalizer within 5 minutes of the restart. Great play down the right resulted in a penalty in which Jack Bradley composed himself well to make the game 2-2. The next 10 minutes was all Curragh but Drumkeen defended well with Niall Sweeney and Arron Bonner putting in telling tackles and Dylan Doherty pulling of 2 fine saves in the Drumkeen goal.
The last 10 minutes was all Drumkeen and they can count themselves unlucky not to take all 3 points with Jason McDaid unlucky in a few occasions. Connor McDaid created a few good chances but it was Curragh's turn to hold strong with Oisin Marley putting in some telling tackles. It's all to play for as the we enter the last 4 games of the season, great entertaining game with great performances from both teams.
