In the second game played on Sunday morning against Cavan/Monaghan Donegal started the brightest with most of the posession in the first 15 minutes but Cavan/Monaghan grew into the game and 5 minutes before half time broke the deadlock after there winger finished well from a tight angle with shouts from all around for offside. The flag stayed down and Cavan/Monaghan went in at half time leading 1-0. The second half was one to forget from Donegal’s perspective as the boys started to look tired and Cavan/Monaghan looking the more energetic and had more hunger for the fight. Donegal did not give in with Connor O’Reilly and Darragh Ellison working very hard in midfield but the team failed to break down the opposition and from pushing on looking for an equaliser they inevitably conceded a second goal which was well taken by the Cavan/Monaghan No. 10. Credit to Cavan/Monaghan who deserved their victory and were the better team on the day, although, if Donegal had played to their potential the outcome could have being very different.
