The opening game of the Champions League for both teams was played at St. Patricks Park in blustery conditions and was tightly contested throughout. Drumkeen, playing some good football, could not capitalise on their dominance in the first half and Keadue countered well and despite Sean Patton's best efforts took the lead after a swift break. Going in at half time one goal down led to a Drumkeen push but the final ball was not good enough and the equaliser never came and again Keadue defended strongly and countered quickly to double their lead. After the second goal was conceded Drumkeen heads went down and after some bad decisions the ball was won in midfield by Keadue who finished the scoring on three after stringing together a few passes to dismantle Drumkeen's defence. A good game of football with both teams showing their Champions League credentials.
