With just 2 minutes gone on the clock Kilmacrennan's Conor Black opened the scoring settling the nerves of the home side. Jamie Grant cushioned their lead shortly after with a fine solo run. Curragh Athletic slowly began to gain control in the game testing the Kilmacrennan back four. They were rewarded for their efforts after Dylan Woods won and converted a free kick just outside the 18 yard box. Just before the stroke of half time, Kilmacrennan stretched the lead again after another great link up by Conor Black and Jamie Grant resulting in Jamie's second leaving the score 3-1 half time. Curragh Athletic started the brighter in the second half and reduced the difference to one goal again when Kilmacrennan failed to clear a corner with Dylan Woods seizing the opportunity to score his second. Ten minutes later Conor Black chased a loose ball right to the end line getting the cross into the danger area where Jamie Grant made no mistake to claim his hat-trick. Kilmacrennan were now in command of the game and continued to mount pressure forcing some fantastic saves by Adrian McLaughlin.Their 5th came after Stephen Black's free found an unmarked Damien Egan waiting on the left post who cooly chipped the ball over the keeper. Kilmacrennan sealed out the game after a great run by Aaron Reid resulted in a second goal for Conor Black. Overall a great hour of quality football by both teams.
