Under 12 Champions League Group Stage Game 2
Glenea United 3-0 Curragh Athletic

O. Doogan 25'
B. McGarvey 40'
N. O'Brien 50'

Both teams started slowly in this second game of the Champions League Group A section. The games first goal came in the 25th minute with good work down the left hand side by Glenea. The ball was played into the penalty area and a Curragh and Glenea player both stumbled leaving the ball loose for Owan Doogan to pounce and fire into the bottom corner. The second half started as the first finished with Glenea on top. Their second came after a through ball by Ciaran Mulhern was headed backwards by a Curragh defender into the path of Blake McGarvey who fired the ball into the back of the net on 40 minutes. Curragh tried their best to attack but were always broken down by the Glenea defence. Some excellant goalkeeping from Adrian McLaughlin in the Curragh goals kept them in the game with point blank saves from Cianan Gallagher and Cathal McGeever. He was finally beaten again in 50th minute by a curled strike by Nathan O Brien into the roof of the net. That result means Glenea United advance to the next stage of the competition having guaranteed a top two finish. They will play Kilmacrennan Celtic on Bank Holiday Monday for the honour of topping Group A.
