Swilly Rovers U12's secured all 3 points in a very competitive and entertaining Champions League game against Gweedore Celtic at Swilly Park on Wednesday night. Frankie Campbell got his 42nd goal of the season when he opened the scoring for the home team just after 8 minutes. Some nice exchanges on the edge of the box before Frankie looked up and swerved alovely shot into top corner. After this the game was back and forward with some great passing from both teams. In the middle of the first half the boys from Gweedore took hold of the game and dominated for a significant period without ever really creating too man chances. Their physicality and nice movement had the boys in red under the kosh. The second half started with the same intense tempo. Swilly were now starting to come into it with their passing game slowly having an impact on the proceedings. However, against the run off play the number 7 Jamie Doherty hit Swilly with the sucker punch when he brilliantly swivelled in the box and scored to draw level. The atmosphere was now red hot and both teams really went for it. The last 10 minutes were about chances being taken when Clive Callan quite skillfully hit the top corner from a free kick and then with only 3 minutes left Eoin Logue scored the final goal to close out the game with a very good header at the back post.
