Donegal Schoolboys 1999 League Centre squad have qualified for the semi-finals of the SFAI U-15 Inter League competition following an emphatic 4-0 victory over Galway Schoolboys in Bonagee yesterday. Galway had the better of the early play but Conor Gavigan and Conor Gormley marshalled the home defence and dealt with the threats on goal. Donegal then took the lead following a series of passes involving Jack Keaney and Sean McBride resulting in Peadar Mogan getting on the end of a cross to steer home. Sean McBride then had a header cleared off the line by Evan Murphy after 28 minutes but the Republic of Ireland U-15 international got his name on the scoresheet minutes later when he pounce on a weak Paul Lally backpass to round Sean Macuibhlin in the Galway goal and sidefoot home to make it 2-0. Then just two minutes before half-time McBride became provider with a brilliant pass into the penalty area to Jordan Ryan who made no mistake from six yards. Galway brought on three substitutes at half-time but were unable to make any impact and it was little or no surprise when Peadar Mogan scored his second and Donegal's fourth when Jordan Ryan broke down the right wing before crossing to the midfielder to score with ease from 8 yards. Both sides then made futher changes as the game fizzled out as a contest with no notable chances being created by either side. Mark McConnell and Paul Callan will be well satisfied with the afternoon's work and can now plan ahead to a home semi-final clash with Cork Schoolboys next weekend.
