This game was played in excellent conditions in Cappry Park on Thursday night. The first half was a tight affair with both defences well on top. There was very few chances created in the first half with both teams reduced to shooting from long range. Oisin Gallen came closest to opening the scoring with a free kick from 30 yards which produced a good save from the Letterkenny goalkeeper. Cappry nearly got off to a dream start in the second half when in the first minute Daire Mc Cafferty broke free down the right hand side and his cross found Kyle O'Meara arriving late in the box but his effort was fired over the bar. In the 43rd minute Cappry took the lead through the impressive Luke Gavigan who got up highest to head home an Anthony Bruton corner. Letterkenny pressed hard to get level but the Cappry defence dealt with everything they were asked to deal with. In the 55th minute Cappry almost doubled their lead when once again Daire Mc Cafferty broke on the right and crossed to Alex McGeehan whose first time effort came back off the post. McGeehan got away again in the 60th minute when Jamie Murray played him through but this time following a delightful chip over the on rushing keeper the forward saw his effort cleared off the line. Letterkenny tried hard in the last five minutes and came close with a free kick from 20 yards which Joe Boyle saved well. This was very entertaining game played between two even teams. Team performances from both sides.
