St. Catherine's got off to a great start in the first Champions League group match against Gweedore Celtic in Emerald Park on Friday night. The Saints were just on fire and within the first 10 minutes they put the game to bed with three quick goals. They went on to dominate the game with Ryan and Conor Cunningham getting 5 goals between them, Lanty Molloy 3 goals and Oran Doogan, Aaron Doherty and Niall Campbell all getting a goal a piece which completed the scoring, Gweedore caused the Saints defence problems but it came to no good as the home defence held firm. Gweedore to their credit battled hard and played some nice football but it was just not their day. Team performance from the Saints, and the Gweedore keeper played well making a number of top saves throughout the game.
