Castlefin Celtic 2 Dungloe Town 2 0000-00-00 00:00:00

Castlefin Celtic gave Dungloe Town the fright of their lives in this Under 14 Group A Champions League game. The home team knew that only a victory would see them qualify for the semi-final at the expense of their visitors. Dungloe started the better but found themselves behind after 10 minutes. A Corrie-Lee Bogan 25-yard free kick was parried by Conor O Donnell in the Dungloe nets but an alert Paul Farrell was on hand to blast home. Castlefin doubled their advantage soon afterwards when a superb Jordan O Rourke through-ball found Farrell who turned quickly and found the top corner from 20 yards. Dungloe put Castlefin on the back-foot at the beginning of the second half and were rewarded for their pressure when Danny Mc Glynn was on hand to beat keeper Declan Bryson from close range. Dungloe maintained the pressure but were restricted to long range efforts. Castlefin looked like they had weathered the storm but with 10 minutes remaining Danny Ward equalised from the penalty spot. Castlefin threw everything at their opponents in the final stages in their quest for a winner but the county favourites held out and qualified for a semi-final date with St Catherine’s. Best wishes for a speedy recovery to Dungloe player Aaron Mc Cafferty who sustained a serious injury in the game. Referee: Marty Mc Garrigle
