Copany Rovers 2; Killybegs 7 2015-08-30 00:00:00

Copany hosted a strong Killybegs side on Sunday in a rearranged fixture. Copany started the brighter creating a few early chances in which the best fell to Adam Lyons who ran onto a great through ball from Ethan Monaghan but his shot just went narrowly wide. After 20 minutes Killybegs started to gain control of the game but were finding it hard to break down the Copany back line of Mark Harron, Liam Given and Tiernan Metereau. However, after 25 minutes they got their goal past keeper Luke Given who made a number of fine saves on the day. Killybegs added a further 2 goals in quick succession before half time.
Copany introduced Oisin Metereau and Mark Fisher at half time, both went onto play a big part in the second half. Copany started the second half on the front foot with Mathew Given making great runs from midfield and playing the pass for Kyle "Messi" Johnston to get through on goal only to be brought down for a penalty. Johnston got up to take the penalty and cooly slotted it past the Killybegs keeper, game on for Copany. Kyle Johnston soon scored again with a great solo effort, Copany now had their tails up looking for more goals , Joshua Harron now in the back line snuffing out a number of Killybegs counter attacks , Copany gave all they had to get back into the game but Killybegs proved too strong on the day. They got a couple of late goals to seal the three points but a great team performance from the young Cobras with plenty of positives to be taken from the performance.
