Mulroy Academy 4; Bonagee Arcade 2 2015-10-11 00:00:00

Bonagee Arcade were playing away to Mulroy Academy on Sunday morning. With some of our players unavailable due to their Gaelic game we once again called on two of the U-12 Team to make up the numbers.

With the sun shining on a perfect morning for ball, the Lads were in great form and from the off you could tell it was going to be a good game. Jamie Cunningham was unlucky on his 1st attempt to put the ball past Mulroy Keeper only for the ball to clip off the upright and be cleared away. But it was the home team who drew 1st blood, with a strong run up the field to drive the ball past Bonagee's keeper Luke Doherty. But the Lads battled on and after winning a corner, Kaymin Shortt floated in a great ball were Darragh Kirk was able to get on the end off it and place the ball inside the near post to level the game, but Mulroy then got their second just before half time.

Mulroy started the second half much the stronger team and got another two good goals early on, but this never deterred the lads and with a few chances missed it was our captain Ben Hopkins who got Bonagee's second with some persistence in the 6 yard box. But this was as much as either team could manage and the game ended 4-2 to the home team. Well done to both teams on a hard fought game. Our Man off the Match goes to Darragh Kirk for his never lay down attitude and a big thank you to Josh and Noah for stepping in and to all who helped with lifts to and from the game.
