Glencar School boys V Bonagee Arcade 2015-11-08 00:00:00

Our game this weekend against Glencar Schoolboys was played at the Community Centre on what turned out to be a miserable wet morning. It was touch and go if the referee would let the game go ahead but it was decided that we would get started and if the rain started again that we would abandon.

The game started fairly even with both side getting used to the wet conditions and Bonagee were very unlucky on a few occasions not to take the lead with Kaymin Shortt just putting one the wrong side of the post and Charles Kelly clipping one off the cross bar, but it was Glencar that drew first blood, with them winning a free kick just on the corner of our 18 yard box where the young lad floated it into the far corner to open the scoring. Bonagee midfield were in top form with Connor Hughs, T.J Wylie, Charles Kelly and Jay Mc Guire putting inn a mighty performance and young Luke Doherty was unlucky not to be given a penalty where he was bundled off the ball inside the box but Glencar managed to hold their lead to the half time whistle.

Bonagee started the stronger team in the second half and when Charles Kelly crossed in a free from the middle of the pitch, the ball landed at young Scott Thompson's feet were he had the composure to knock it in past Glencar's keeper to level the game. Jamie Cunningham came on as sub in the second half and he was next to add to Bonagees score with a fantastic shot, next was T.J Wylie who again with some great close control got his first goal off the season with a clever pass into the back of the net. Jamie got his second after a great run up the line to fire the ball home. But fair play to Glencar they never gave up and were constantly testing an almighty Bonagee defense and were awarded with their second when they broke through and was able to get it past our keeper. But Jamie finished the game off with a shot from 25 yards out into the top corner to get his hat trick. Its again difficult to choose our man off the match with the way all the lads played but it has to go to Jamie Cunningham due to how he conducted himself and up his game this week.Well done to all the boys on what turned out to be one of the best team performances I'v seen this year.
